Gregory Richard Reed, age 68, of Centreville, died Monday, Sep. 2, 2019 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Sturgis on Feb. 20, 1951 the son of Richard and Nancy J. (Sweet) Reed. Greg graduated from Centreville High School and later attended trade schools for Oldsmobile and Kawasaki Motors. He was a former service manager at Albright Oldsmobile and worked briefly at Industrial Lift Truck in Three Rivers. For the past 30 years Greg has been employed at Wise Motors in Mendon.
Greg or “Red” played summer baseball in Kalamazoo right after high school. He was a bowler at both Airway and Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo. Red was the former co-owner of Red-Bush Records in Coldwater. He was a member of both the Lake Erie and Wolverine Antique Motorcycle Association where he served as a field judge. Greg was a member of the Antique Porsche Club and enjoyed working on anything with wheels. He also served on the Nottawa Township Planning Commission.
Greg was married to Patricia L. McClish on Nov. 12, 1977 in Centreville. She survives along with two children, Hillary (Tai) Barger of Elkhart and Colin (Cassie Hoffman) Reed of Schoolcraft. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard in 1971 and his mother, Nancy in 2009.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from noon to 3 pm on Sunday, Sep. 15, 2019 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 3 pm Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Peterson, Pastor of the Centreville Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mendon Cemetery.
