Ribbon cutting held for new COA

A significant moment in the history of the St. Joseph County Commission On Aging was celebrated last week.

Friday’s ceremonial ribbon cutting to recognize the agency’s new headquarters in Three Rivers attracted several dozen people. In addition to COA’s new headquarters, the remodeled Three Rivers Inn includes 38 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom residences.

COA director Tim Stoll welcomed State Rep. Aaron Miller and State Sen. Kim LaSata to the fanfare, which was held in the entryway to the refurbished facility.

The former hotel, which closed in November 2005, is on an eight-acre property on West Broadway Street and was built in the late 1960s.

Redevelopment of the building was budgeted to cost $4.6 million.
