Rolland Daniel Courtney, age 71, of Marcellus, passed away Monday, September 24, 2019 at home surrounded by family.
Rolland was born in Kalamazoo on January 12, 1948, the son of Rolland “Curly” John Courtney, Jr. and Ethel Zenzie (DeYoung) Courtney.
On Sunday, June 24, 2012, Rolland married Ardith Kay (Bowers) Shepard in Marcellus.
Rolland is survived by his loving wife: Ardith, one daughter: Gayle (Raymond) McLeod of Three Rivers, three step-daughters: Candace VanAntwerp of Augusta, Michelle (Ronald) Johnson of Constantine, Kimberly (Van) Blentlinger of Marcellus, one son: Daniel Lee (Tracy) Courtney of Sturgis, five grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 3 great-granddaughters, 21 step great-grandchildren, sisters: Rose Blake of LaGrange, IN, Gayle (Kenn) Stermer of Scotts, Amelia Bigelow of South Bend, IN, Shirlee Boitnott of Anaconda MT, and Judy Harvey of Cookeville, TN, brothers: William (Scott) Courtney of Kalamazoo, Thomas (Christine) Courtney of Martin, James Courtney of Portage, Mark (Dottie) Courtney of Kalamazoo, Joseph Courtney of Allegan.
Rolland is preceded in death by his parents: Rolland “Curly” John Courtney, Jr. and Ethel Zenzie (DeYoung) Courtney, one step-son: Thomas Shepard, Jr., and one brother: Sonny Courtney.
The family would like to welcome friends for a memorial visitation at Trinity Bible Church, located at 397 Elm St, Marcellus, MI 49067, on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM, with Pastor Scott Wiles officiating. Rolland’s remains will be laid to rest with full Military Honors in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Memorial donations may be directed to American Diabetes Association.
