Warren A. Rumsey, age 97, of Three Rivers, passed away in the late hours of Monday, September 30, 2019. He was born on November 10, 1921 the son of Jesse and Effie (Newman) Rumsey in Newberg Twp, Michigan.
Warren was an avid hunter and fisherman. He went to Alaska twice for vacations fishing for Red Sockeye Salmon.
In 1942 Warren enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was a signal man serving in the Aleutians, South Pacific, Guam, Saipan, and Iwo Jima.
On October 7, 1947 Warren married the love of his life Ramona (Russey) Rumsey. They were life-long members of this community and have attended the Corey Church of the Nazarene for most of their lives together. He was a hard worker who was employed at many places over the years eventually retiring from Wells Manufacturing.
Warren is preceded in his passing by his parents; brother: Earl Rumsey; and sister: Lila (Rumsey) Godber.
Left to cherish Warren’s memory is his wife of seventy-one years: Ramona (Russey) Rumsey; sons: Steven (Vickie) and Joseph Rumsey; grandchildren: Anna Versalle, Julia Proshwitz, Sara Valigorsky, Michael and Kenneth Rumsey; sister-in-law, Betty Rumsey; nieces, Lori Rumsey and Cathy Hetmansperger.
In accordance with Warren’s wishes a public service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Corey Church of the Nazarene, 10056 Water St, Three Rivers, MI 49093, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.
Internment will be held at Poe Cemetery following the service.
