Man arrested after assault

A Park Township man was arrested earlier this week after allegedly assaulting a family member.

Sheriff’s deputies were called shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 53000 block of North Fisher Lake Road in response to a report of assault between family members.

Deputies found that a 21-year-old woman sustained a knife wound to the neck. The wound, however, was determined to be non-life-threatening.

They also learned that the suspect fled the scene on foot prior to deputies arriving.

K-9 Django, his handler and another officer from the Three Rivers Police Department were called to the scene to assist with a search of the vicinity.

Django was able to quickly pick up the suspect’s scent and led officers to a nearby property. The suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended.

The 23-year-old suspect was charged with assault with intent to commit murder and interfering with a 9-1-1 telephone call, authorities said.
