State troopers are investigating the theft of a 17-foot camper trailer from Haylett Auto in Coldwater.
The incident occurred between 4 and 4:50 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said the suspects took the trailer from a storage area on Lott Road and U.S. 12. After pulling onto Lott Road and traveling east, the trailer broke loose from the hitch of the towing vehicle.
The trailer ended up in the ditch and the suspect fled the scene, leaving the trailer behind.
Investigators said there should be damage to the tow hitch and rear of the truck involved in the incident.
