Voters in the Three Rivers Community Schools district OK’d a request for a zero-mill tax-rate increase bond proposal.
By a margin of nearly 2-to-1, the vote allows the district to continue the millage rate it already levies, 4.9 mills for 10 years. As a result, it will provide more than $61 million to address identified and ongoing facility needs.
The request garnered 1,607 votes in favor to 878 opposed.
The most noticeable work will occur at the middle school and include demolition of the old classroom wing, construction of a new educational wing consisting of classrooms and a media center.
In addition, security will increase at the entrance to every building, and visitors will be routed directly into each school’s main office.
Many other improvements will be made, including several at Armstrong Field.
