Jeanette Louise (Careggio) DalPonte, age 88, of Three Rivers, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Three Rivers Health. She was born on July 3, 1931 in Three Rivers, the daughter of Paul and Irene (Boggio) Careggio.
She graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1948. She then attended Medical Secretary School in Elkhart, and began working at the Three Rivers Medical Clinic.
Her family was the most important thing in her life. Born out of her first marriage to Wilbur (Bill) Stutesman were three children, Thomas Stutesman, Michelle Stutesman and Paul Stutesman. On August 19, 1967 she was united in marriage to James DalPonte and became the mother to his children Mark DalPonte, James (Scott) DalPonte and Jon DalPonte. She was able to blend the two families into one. Later, when Michelle suffered from medical issues, she raised her grandson Nicholas Grant as her own. She was known by many names, to her family she was Jeannette, to her children mom, to her friends she was Gigi and to her grandchildren she was Nana.
She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Three Rivers and a strong supporter of the Immaculate Conception School where she sent all 6 of her children. She and Jimmy worked hard on the building of the new school on South Douglas Avenue.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Irene (Boggio) Careggio, her eldest son Thomas Stutesman and her daughter Michelle (Stutesman) Grant. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James DalPonte, her sister Paula (Rick) Zemke, her children Mark (Patty) DalPonte, James Scott (Carmen) DalPonte, Jon (Cindy) DalPonte and Paul (Constance) Stutesman. She also was the Grandmother of eight and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. with the Rosary to follow at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Hohner Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church of Three Rivers with Fr. Mathias as celebrant.
