Bill Clewell, 58

William (Bill) Clewell, age 58, of Constantine, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

He was born to Marilyn Dowling on August 24,1961 in South Bend. He spent his early years in California, and graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1980.

He started work for Pioneer Hi-Bred at the age of 17, for 17 years. He fulfilled a life long dream of opening his own automotive shop in 2005.

Stock car racing was a huge part of his life, and he was track champion for multiple years in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. He loved cars, his family, and helping people. He was more than just a mechanic… he was everyone’s best friend and therapist, as well as a beloved brother, dad, and grandpa. He enjoyed watching his children play sports and taking the grandkids to the races. He found great joy in spreading kindness and generosity, and loved his rescue dogs, Ava, Zeke, Bo, and Winnie.

He is survived by his family: Mother, Marilyn Dowling (Sturgis), Erin Clewell (White Pigeon), daughter Brandi Clewell (Ft. Wayne), daughter Shanon Clewell (South Bend), son Billy Clewell (Constantine), daughter Jenny Clewell (Constantine), brother Ron Clewell (Shelbyville), brother Tommy Dowling (Sturgis), brother Michael Dowling (Sturgis), and grandchildren Camilla, Jude, Lennon, and Jaxson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 from 1 to 3pm at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Donations can be made to St. Joseph County Animal Control in Centreville or to the family.
