Sturgis restaurant closes 5 days earlier than planned

Burger King in Sturgis closed Tuesday, five days earlier than its scheduled shut-down date.

Robert Snyder, now former general manager of the Sturgis restaurant, said Tria Company of Battle Creek was closing the location and Saturday would be the last day.

On Tuesday, however, he said he had been suspended from his duties as general manager and the entire staff walked out as a show of support.

Snyder said he believes he was suspended for attempting to get another Burger King to come to Sturgis in an effort to save his employees’ jobs.

Snyder said he is aware of a petition with more than 500 signatures of people who want to keep Burger King in Sturgis.

Snyder believes Burger King in Sturgis has been open since the mid-1980s.
