Reta M. Hetmansperger, age 86, of Three Rivers, went to be with her lord and savior Jesus on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at home surrounded by her family, after a long battle with bipolar, depression, and dementia.
She was born on November 19, 1933 in Athens, MI the daughter of Charles and Dora (Moyer) Lafler. She attended Centreville High School and finished 12th grade in 1952.
On April 16, 1953 Reta married Marlen Hetmansperger. Besides raising a family, Reta worked for Continental Can Company, Craig’s Hallmark Card Store, Vaughn’s Department Store, and Research Molding. Reta was known as the ‘hat lady’ for her hat collection, enjoyed collecting butterfly things, and paperweights.
Surviving are husband of 66 years, Marlen Hetmansperger. Daughter, Deborah (Bob) Sievers. Sons, Dustin (Cathy) Hetmansperger, Dallas Hetmansperger, Dwight (Cindy) Hetmansperger. Nine Grandchildren, Chad (Becky), twins, Becky and Joe (Kelly), Lindsey (Josh), Tyler, Babette (Nick), Brian (Lori), and twins Justice and Jenna (Aaron). Five great grandchildren, Caden, Summer, Braylen, Amelia, Lucy, and another due soon. Step great grandchildren, Jace and Laila. Sisters in law, Sharon Lafler and Joyce (Richard) Knight. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend Shele Schiedel. She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Dora (Moyer) Lafler. Ten brothers and sisters, Eureath, Elwood, Estner, June Aladine, Elwin, Jerry, twin Reva and two infants.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 6pm until 8pm at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel (305 Rock River Ave, Three Rivers, MI). Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the Corey Church of the Nazarene (10056 Water Street, Three Rivers, MI) with an hour of visitation before. Interment will be held in Mendon Cemetery.
