A 32-year-old man was arrested following an armed robbery last week in Penn Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said the incident was reported at 6:30 p.m. Friday from the Dollar General store in Vandalia.
Investigators said a man came into the store and requested money after leading an employee to believe he had a weapon in his possession.
The clerk complied with the request and the suspect left the store. He then entered an occupied car and demanded a ride. The driver denied the man’s request for a ride and the suspect wound up fleeing the scene on foot.
K-9 Faust was deployed and the suspect was located a short time later at an address on Mulberry Street. He was charged with armed robbery.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment in 4th District Court.
