Two men were arrested following a home-invasion incident last week in Cass County’s Calvin Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday in response to an armed robbery and home invasion in the 63000 block of Day Lake Road.
The 24-year-old female victim told authorities she was home alone, and three or four men entered the residence and demanded money.
They forced their way into a back bedroom, where the victim’s dog had been shut. When the suspects opened the bedroom door, the dog came at them and was shot by one of the suspects. The suspects then left the residence with an undetermined amount of money.
Deputies eventually located their vehicle, which was parked at the Cassopolis Public Library. Two subjects – 21-year-old Oliver Bwalya of Elkhart, and Jeramiah Makanjuola, 19, of Columbus, Ohio – each face 13 charges, including home invasion, armed robbery, killing an animal, larceny from a building, assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearms.
Bond was set at $80,000.
