Municipal officials in Schoolcraft announced last week the village is canceling its 2020 Fourth of July celebration.
Village manager Cheri Lutz said cancellation of what would have been Schoolcraft’s 95th annual Independence Day celebration includes the parade, car show, fireworks and all other associated activities.
Lutz said while nobody on the village council is happy to have to make such a difficult decision, village leaders know it has been made in the best interest of the community and the thousands of people who come to the village to participate.
While Sturgis officials announced they are moving Sturgis Fest from late June to late August, the Three Rivers Water Festival in June and Independence Day celebrations in Constantine and Colon have not been postponed or canceled yet.
