Sharon A. Nash, age 74, of Portage, and formerly of Centreville, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Sharon was born on June 23, 1945 in Washington, DC, a daughter of Paul and Gertrude (Wedding) Sloan. She attended Centreville Schools, graduating in 1963. Sharon also received her Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Davenport University.
Sharon was an AT&T sales representative in Kalamazoo for 20 years, retiring in 2012. Previously, she worked for the St. Joseph County Courthouse and was also the first woman car salesman in St. Joseph County, Michigan. She was a former member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Centreville. Sharon enjoyed sewing, machine embroidery, shopping, and listening to music. One of her favorite pastimes was watching entertainment talent television shows like The Voice, Dancing With the Stars, and America’s Got Talent, with her family. She was also an avid Detroit Lions Football fan and would never miss a game. She always had a sweet tooth; some of her favorites were chocolate, ice cream, hot fudge sundaes, and her special recipe Pina Coladas.
Surviving are her son Chris Nash of Portage, daughter Danielle (Matt) Coppernoll of Roopville, GA, grandchildren Cayla Nash, Amanda Coppock, Katelyn Coppernoll, Wyatt Coppernoll, Jasmine Coppernoll and Jared Wolf, sister Rosemary (DeWayne) Gest of Centreville,brother Paul (Margaret) Sloan of Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald Sloan.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Clare Catholic Church in Centreville with Fr. R. Mathias, MSFS officiating. Interment will occur in Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville. Memorials can be given to the family c/o Danielle Coppernoll.
