After considerable debate, the village of Constantine is going forward with its Fourth of July fireworks display.
Municipal officials said the annual parade, however, will not take place.
Village attorney Howard Bush rendered an opinion, concluding that a fireworks event can be accomplished without violating any of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s orders.
The fireworks display will take place at the usual venue: Fibre Converters Park little league field on Meadow Lane at South Washington.
Regarding safety, specifically related to COVID-19, the village is warning that appropriate precautions are the responsibility of those who choose to attend the display. Village officials are recommending to not congregate with people other than those with whom you traveled to the event.
Financial donations for fireworks are still being accepted to help meet the $7,500 cost of the display.
Surprised they aren’t having people sign waivers. They hold the event but take no responsibility at all. Where have I heard that before?
