Out and About for November 4th, 2008

If you’re reading this and it’s before 8 P.M. on November 4, and you still haven’t done your civic duty and voted, then I strongly advise you to visit your polling place and cast your vote. If you are thinking that your vote won’t make a difference, you are very wrong. If you decide not to vote, you have no right to complain about the outcome of the election. On a personal note, the person who does win the Presidential election deserves the respect of the office and a chance to prove his worth. The same goes for the other candidates who have stepped forward, willing to serve, if elected to their desired position.

It’s November already. The holiday season is rapidly approaching. Christmas party plans are in the works, and merchants are ready for the rush of shoppers. I think it would be great to get Out and About and shop locally, if possible. Wouldn’t it be nice and economically a good idea to keep our money in our community?

If you are looking for a venue for your holiday party, you might consider checking out the Three Rivers Lions Club Service Center. For information on availability and rates, please contact Dean at 273-8092. The Service Center has much to offer and the rates are more than reasonable.

Three Rivers Area Health Auxiliary Bazaar is this Friday and Saturday, November 7 and 8 from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the Three Rivers Area Health facility on Health Parkway in Three Rivers. If this is a bit confusing to some of you, it’s at the hospital. On display and available for purchase, you’ll find homemade crafts, jewelry and other gift items. There will also be a bake sale, grab bag, plus some fantastic raffle prizes. You’ll even find a 25% savings on some items in the gift shop. You’ll want to make sure to visit the bazaar on Friday, because the snack bar will offer biscuits with sausage gravy for breakfast and cream of broccoli soup and cream of potato soup for lunch. I’m sure many of you have never been to Three Rivers Health. What a perfect opportunity to stop by and check out this beautiful facility. The gift shop and snack bar are staffed by volunteers. Let them know how much you appreciate their giving of their free time.

The Three Rivers Community Players thank those of you who came to see one of the performances of ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT. Those in attendance seemed to enjoy themselves. The next production will be “Make We Merry” on December 5 and 6 at 7:30 P.M., directed by Diane Foghino. The unique thing is that the participants include members of the community who just enjoy performing this one time each year. I’ll have more information as performance time draws closer.

Once again, here are a few things that might make you sit back and go “Hmmmm”:
1. Why does a round pizza come in a square box?
2. If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
3. Why do banks charge a fee on “Insufficient Funds” when they know there is not enough money?
4. Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
5. Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Thanks to all of you who have gotten Out and About and voted!
