A situation Thursday involving an armed person in the 500 block of South Clay Street in Sturgis was resolved peacefully.
Police were dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. following a report of an armed person who was barricaded inside a home. According to a department media release, officers were able to make contact by phone and convince the person to leave the residence peacefully. The person was transported to Sturgis Hospital for observation.
Nearby residents were advised by email to shelter in-place or leave the area and that the surrounding block was sealed off. According to city officials, the situation was resolved around 3 p.m.
Criminal charges are not anticipated, police said.
