St. Joseph County has experienced another jump in COVID-19 cases.
As of Friday, Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency confirmed 31 new cases, for a cumulative total of 990. The number of deaths remained unchanged at 15.
Meanwhile, Constantine Public Schools on Monday moved to a remote-learning setup districtwide, with a return to in-person instruction set for Nov. 9. District officials said the transition was made due to the number of COVID-19 close contacts identified that affect the ability to safely staff in-person programs.
Since Sept. 24, St. Joseph County has had seven spikes in cases of at least 15 per day, while the previous daily average was five or fewer. In that same span, there have been only five days with five or fewer new daily cases confirmed through laboratory tests.
