James “Jim” R. Grames, age 79, of Jones, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Three Rivers.
He was born in Kalamazoo on September 2, 1941 the son of George and Rose (Sitar) Grames.
On July 20, 1963, in Jones, he married Betty Jean Daughtery who survives.
Jim liked to work hard and play harder, he worked for many years for MDOT in Jones, as a highway worker. Jim was a Past Fire Chief of Newberg Fire Department. He enjoyed stock car racing, diving, riding his motorcycle and snowmobiles.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; one daughter Brenda Grames of Three Rivers; one son Jeffrey (Pamela) Grames of Milan, Ohio; three grandchildren Dustin Grames, Victoria Grames, Keagan Grames; two sisters Charlene (Ted) Paddock of Brighton, MI , Phyllis Baker of Shipshewana; two brothers David (Jennifer) Grames of Three Rivers, Greg Grames, of Marcellus; and one step-brother Tom (Virginia)Ball of Constantine.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one step-brother Doug Ball and sister-in-law Klover Grames.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:30am at Poes Cemetery in Jones. Memorial donations may be directed to the Jones Fire and Ambulance Service in Newburg Township. Online condolences may be left at www.materralstonfuneralhome.com.
