Jerry Bingaman, 67

Jerry Earl Bingaman, age 67, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 2, 2020 at his home.
He was born January 25, 1953 in Sturgis, son of the late Alden and Beulah (Gay) Bingaman.
Jerry resided his whole life in St. Joseph County. On April 2, 2009 he married Phyllis Minnick in Sturgis.
Most of Jerry’s working life was as a truck driver. He had also worked at Dave Smith Pontiac in Sturgis, Ronnigen Petter in Kalamazoo and had taught courses at Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville.
Jerry enjoyed tinkering in his garage and truly loved children and found great joy in making them happy.
He is survived by his wife: Phyllis; one daughter: Mary (Jay) Herrmann of Sabetha, Kansas; two sons: Jeremy (Melanie) Bingaman of Sturgis and Dominick Bingaman of Burr Oak; one step-daughter: Kayla (Chad) West of Marcellus; one step-son: Bobby Johnson of Three Rivers; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister: Gayla Perry of Sturgis; two brothers: Alden “Punk” (Sally) Bingaman of Centreville and William (Krystal) Bingaman of Three Rivers and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Deborah Joanne Bingaman-Kline and one son: Steven Bingaman.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions of gatherings, the current limitations of no more than 25 people in the funeral home at a time will be followed and face masks are required. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jerry E. Bingaman will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Sturgis Missionary Church. Seating will be limited, social distancing followed and face masks will be required. Pastor Ken Mills and Johnny Hartman will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Jerry’s memory consider the Burr Oak 4-H Club, 67433 County Farm Rd., Burr Oak, MI 49030.
