Sallie Channey, 81

Sallie L. Channey, age 81, of rural Three Rivers, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021. She was born in Alpine, Alabama on April 10, 1939 one of nine children born to Joseph and Josephine (Wiley) Bowman. She was married to Rev. Luther D. Channey, Jr. on Nov. 23, 1957. They moved to this area in 1971 where together they established the All Nations Temple, Church of God in Christ. They were parents of five and foster parents of seventy-five children. As the Pastor’s wife she was intricately involved in all church functions, including directing the choir. She was appointed Shepherdess of the Church in 2013.

Sallie is survived by five children, Princel (Addie) Channey of Riverdale, GA, Kyrone Channey of Three Rivers, Cymantha White of Kalamazoo, Dayone Channey and Marques Channey both of Three Rivers; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight siblings, William Bowman, Lorraine Beard, Patricia Bowman, Joseph (Deborah) Bowman, Jr., Gloria (Melvin) Grandberry, Deborah (John) Anderson, Gregory Bowman, and Valarie (Greg) Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther; and grandson, Raphael Channey.

Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, Feb. 11th from 2 to 6 pm at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Masks, spacing and attendance will be limited to 25 at any given time. A family only service will be held 11 am Friday Feb. 12th at the funeral home, followed by interment in Moorepark Cemetery.
