Glen Oaks offers more on-campus classes

Registration is underway for summer and fall semester at Glen Oaks Community College, where students will find an increase in on-campus classes.

According to Michael Goldin, vice president of academics, the school would typically start fall semesters with about 85 percent of its classes in the traditional, face-to-face format.

This past fall, nearly half of GOCC’s classes were held in-person.

While many students are ready to be back to class in person, Goldin said, the college serves a number of different populations, and there is a segment of students – a majority adult students – who prefer the online formats.

Since March 2020, the college has offered most of its classes in online and hybrid formats, except for a few skilled trades and laboratory sessions.

For the summer semester, a higher number of online courses will be offered, although skilled trades, health professions and lab science courses are offered with traditional face-to-face components, Goldin said.
