Richard Wood, 68

Richard Ronald Wood, 68, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009. Richard was born Nov. 2, 1940 in Three Rivers, the son of Joseph and Clara Wood, and lived in Three Rivers for many years prior to moving to Florida. He attended Three Rivers High School. In 1959, Richard enlisted in the Marines, and served tours of duty in Europe, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

Richard worked for Dayco in Three Rivers for 15 years and for CarMax in Florida for 15 years prior to his retirement. After his retirement, he spent time pursuing his favorite pastimes — golfing, hunting and fishing.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Joyce Campbell and Doris Ellis. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Wood of Three Rivers; sisters, Joanne Griswold of Sturgis and Florence Richardson of Garland, Texas; his brother, Roy L.D. Wood of Colon; many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Interment with full military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta on Oct. 2 at 11:30 a.m.
