Boy dies after being struck by vehicle

A teenager struck by a car earlier this month in Branch County’s Sherwood Township passed away last weekend.

Sheriff’s officials said 14-year-old Landen Risner died Sunday, nearly two weeks after he and two of his siblings were struck by a Chevy Equinox outside their residence on Ralston Road, just south of Arney Road.

Its driver was traveling south on Ralston Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck Risner, his 7-year-old brother and 14-year-old sister.

Thanks to a citizen’s tip, state police managed to locate the vehicle and its driver at a residence on Hackman Road in Burr Oak Township.

No information about the suspect, a 42-year-old Sturgis man, has been released by authorities.
