Edie Picker, 87

Edith M. “Edie” Picker, age 87, of Sturgis, was welcomed into heaven by her husband, mom, dad, four sisters, four brothers, two nephews and one niece early Tuesday morning April 27, 2021 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born September 13, 1933 in Kendallville, daughter of the late Floyd and Rosa (Murphy) Goodpaster.
Edie resided in Wolcottville, Indiana until age 18 where she was a graduate of Wolcottville High School with the class of 1951. Following her graduation she moved to Sturgis where she lived the remainder of her life.
On October 15, 1966 she married the love of her life, Don Picker in Sturgis. He preceded her in death April 23, 1999.
Edie retired from Harding’s Market West in Sturgis following 30 years of dedicated employment.
She was a member of Radiant Life Church in Sturgis. Edie was very involved in league bowling. She was a past president and secretary of the Sturgis Women’s Bowling Association, the National 600 Club and was inducted into the Sturgis Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also a life member of Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW Auxiliary. Edie enjoyed crocheting and had made many blankets, hats and mittens which she donated to the Pregnancy Helpline. She also enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and reading, especially her devotional readings.
She is survived by two stepsons: Michael (Pam) Picker and Thomas (Marion) Picker both of Sturgis; three granddaughters: Amber Barton of White Pigeon and Melissa (Frank) Noel and Monica (Cameron) Bullock both of Sturgis; one grandson: Matthew (Rachel) Picker serving in the U.S. Air Force currently station in Pensacola Florida; two great grandchildren: Chad Barton and Montana Trinh; three great great grandchildren: Hunter, Aiden and Kade Trinh and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, four brothers, two nephews and one niece.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Radiant Life Church where funeral services celebrating the life of Edith M. Picker will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday. Pastor Ryan Bibb will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
