Thomas Richard Ritter, age 78, of Bronson, and a former longtime Burr Oak resident, passed away early Monday morning April 19, 2021 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born October 13, 1942 in Sturgis, son of the late Richard and Marita (Blasius) Ritter.
Tom resided in Bronson for the past 10 years coming from Burr Oak.
On September 1, 1962 he married Bonnie Jean Yost in Burr Oak she preceded him in January 30, 2001. He later married Roseanna Danberry who also preceded him in death.
Tom had been employed by the Harter Corporation in Sturgis for 22 years until the closing of the company. Following the closing he accepted a position at Douglas Autotech in Bronson where he worked for several years.
Tom was a graduate of Colon High School with the class of 1962 and a member the Bronson Church of Christ.
He was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed dancing, listening to country music and loved his dogs.
Tom is survived by two sons: Mark (Anita) Ritter of Sturgis and Greg (Brandy) Ritter of Bronson; grandchildren: Adam (Jessica) Ritter of Albion, Indiana, Shannon Fischer of Sturgis, Rebecca (Jeremy) Johnson of Sturgis, Wyatt Ritter of Howe, Indiana, Logan Roberts of Plainwell and Jordan Roberts of Bronson; great grandchildren: Scarlett Fike, Zoie Fischer, Asher Fischer, Lucas Johnson, Brady Johnson, Gabe Johnson, Lydia Johnson; one brother: John (Marjorie) Ritter of Colon and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Thomas Richard Ritter will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the Whole Life Christian Fellowship Church in Sturgis. Pastor Charles Vizthum of Whole Life Church and Pastor Mike Roberts of the Bronson Church of Christ will officiate. Private burial of the ashes will take place at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
