Fair employee named to new position

A longtime St. Joseph County Grange Fair employee has settled into a newly created position.

Tom Miller, a fair board member and past president, said the decision was made to create a position called fair venue coordinator. The $45,000-a-year job was given to Missi Tefft, who has been with the fair for more than three decades, he said.

He said the fair board agreed to implement a restructuring and give more authority than what a normal secretary would have

Meanwhile, the 13-member board now features newcomers Deborah Davis, Gary Clark, Bill Lindsley and Angie Mingus. In addition, Jerry Waltke has succeeded Miller as board president.

In addition, the fair is hoping to incorporate debit and credit card technology in all areas, including gate entrance, food booths, games and anywhere else that requires payment.
