Shelley R. Connors, age 77, of Foster City, California passed away Sunday morning, June 20, 2021 at her favorite place in the entire world, her home on Klinger Lake.
She was born January 22, 1944 in Hinsdale, Illinois daughter of the late Milton A. and Margaret Ann (Saxby) Rusteen.
Shelley resided in California for over 40 years. She also lived in Denver, Colorado and Richmond, Virginia.
Shelley had true love for Klinger Lake. She and her family started traveling to the lake when she was just a child and she continued the tradition until the last day of her life. She loved to waterski and was always ready to pass that love on to others. She taught all of her nieces and nephews and many would say most of the children on the lake how to ski.
She was an alumnus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, the First Presbyterian Church in Menlo Park, CA and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis while summering at the lake. Shelley enjoyed playing Gin Rummy and games of trivia. She loved times with family at the lake and many will miss her annual Memorial Day parties.
Most of Shelley’s working life was involved in law enforcement. She worked as a reserve police officer with the Menlo Park Police Department in Menlo Park, California. For many years she was a private investigator working with Pinkerton Security and established her own company specializing in fraud investigations, traveling throughout the United States and around the world.
Shelley is survived by one sister: Ceanne Louis of Dixon, NM; one brother: Jeffrey (Norene) Rusteen of Redwood City, CA; nieces and nephews: Erin Thompson of Berkeley, CA, Liza Browne of Dixon, NM, Jacob Louis and Michael Thompson both of Denver, CO, William Rusteen of Piedmont, CA, Jonathon Rusteen of Redwood City, CA, Christopher Rusteen of Santa Rosa, CA and Daniel Rusteen a digital nomad currently living in Mexico; great nieces and great nephews: Declan, Camden, Avery, Briley, Connor and Luke and her many longtime friends at Klinger Lake.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Shelley R. Connors will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 2nd at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Dr. David Weber will officiate.
