Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport has been awarded a Small Community Air Service Development grant of $1 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Craig Williams, airport director, said the grant will be used as a revenue guarantee and marketing tool to recruit and support an air carrier for nonstop service to Charlotte, N.C.
The SCASD grant is an important tool to attract air carriers to Kalamazoo, Williams said. Receipt of the grant supports AZO’s continued efforts to bring more air service to the community and improve connectivity for passengers, he added.
Air service development is economic development, which supports the airport’s mission to complement economic growth in Southwest Michigan, Williams noted.
The Airport worked with several community partners, including Southwest Michigan First, Discover Kalamazoo, Battle Creek Unlimited and The Kellogg Company.
Love how the poor have to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, but businesses get small, only 1 million dollars, free taxpayer money to guarantee they don’t lose money when to expand service to Charlotte NC, home of the giant banks and international money corporations!
