Robin Groff, 59

Robin Lynn (Arnold) Groff passed away unexpectedly at her home in Sturgis, on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the age of 59 (but to her she was forever 29 and holding).

While Robin’s family and friends deeply grieve her loss, they know she is now experiencing a peace and joy like no other and they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Robin’s family was her whole world. She was proud of each one of her children. She always had a kiss and hug for them and especially for her grandchildren. Robin was compassionate, humorous, and generous. She was quick to offer help in any circumstance, giving of her resources and time. Robin was the first person to call you after a big storm to see how you survived and it wasn’t uncommon to have a voicemail from her telling you what the future weather forecast held. It was so common that she lovingly earned the nickname “Weatherwoman”. Robin loved to create personalized nicknames for family, friends, co-workers, and pets and she always liked to have the final word. A few common phrases you would frequently hear: “You’re grounded!”, “Watch out for deer.” and “Give the grandkids a hug and kiss for me.”

Robin was a 1980 Sturgis High School graduate and a 2009 Glen Oaks Community College graduate. For the last several years, Robin worked in the Meijer deli where she became a familiar face to many.

Robin was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Kevin LeRoy Groff Sr, both parents and a brother.

Robin is survived by long-time significant other, William Huver of Sturgis, three daughters, Andrea (Matthew) Heckman of Tokyo, Japan, Katherine (David) Wickey of Sturgis, Jennifer (Anthony) Wickey of Kalamazoo, and one son, Kevin Jr (Suzanne) Groff. Robin is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Allissandra (Mark) Chevalier, Aaliyah Hamby, Korr Heckman, Dj Heckman, Kevin Groff III, Ava Wickey, Madison Wickey, Blake Groff, Noah Wickey, Piper Groff, Sarah Wickey, Isaiah Wickey, Alexander Wickey, Aaron Wickey, Melvin Wickey and Evelyn Wickey; two great-granddaughters, Echo Heckman and Nicole Chevalier and two sisters, Deborah Nuyen and Tamara Hill.

Don’t worry mom, we’ll give the grandkids a hug and kiss for you.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Robin Lynn Groff will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday.  Mr. Chris Wickey will officiate.
