Thomas D. Pasternack, age 90, of Sturgis, and a former resident of Burr Oak, passed away late Thursday evening, August 26, 2021 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
Mr. Pasternack was born March 8, 1931 in Burnham, Pennsylvania.
He resided in the Burr Oak and Sturgis area since 1985, coming from Salem, Oregon.
Tom was a graduate of Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania and was a skilled Metallurgist by trade. He had been employed by Standard Steel in Burnham, Pennsylvania, Paccar in Renton, Washington and Stack Steel in Seattle, Washington.
Tom was proud to have served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and was a talented woodworker.
He is survived by two sons: Charlie Pasternack of Gilbertsville, Massachusetts and Joseph Pasternack of Sturgis; seven grandchildren: Michelle, Nicole, Tabatha, Jamie, Janelle, Brandi and Charles, Jr.; six great grandchildren: Adella, Zoey, Tyler, Aubree, Reagan and Roger, III and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; son: Phillip Pasternack; four sisters: Mary, Julie, Kay and Ann and one brother: Charles.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Pasternack’s memory consider the veteran organization of one’s own choice.
