Clinton Augustus “Bud” Boes, age 82 of Sturgis, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 8, 2009, at Sturgis Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Fawn River Township, a son to the late Orval and Florence (Bell) Boes.
On Nov. 27, 1948, he married Charlene M. Wisler at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis.
He was involved in the construction industry his entire working life.
Bud was proud to have served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW, Neuman-Wenzel Post #73, American, Knights of Pythias Phoenix Lodge #171 and the First United Methodist Church of Sturgis. For many years he served as a 4-H leader and a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, archery, camping, canoeing, bowling and playing golf.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlene; one son, Raymond Boes of Burr Oak; two daughters, Deborah (Kenneth) Delle of Colon and Brenda (Mark) Patrick of Sturgis; seven grandchildren, Robert Boes of Schoolcraft, Andy Boes of Sturgis, Eric Delle of Colon, Randy Delle of Colon, Sarah (Delle) Smeltzer of Galesburg, Michelle Patrick of LaGrange, Ind., and Charles Patrick of Sturgis; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Thomas Lynn Boes.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, Funeral services celebrating the life of Clinton “Bud” Boes will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. The Revs Deb Johnson, Robert Keim of the First United Methodist Church and the Rev. Glenn Russell Chaplin of Thurston Woods Village will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis where full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
