Centreville Public Schools approved the hiring of two aides to assist with early elementary grade levels.
During their meeting Monday, the board OK’d one aide position for Centreville Elementary’s three kindergarten classes and another for its three first-grade sections.
The district is allocating about $45,000 to fill the positions, Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer said.
In other action, board members approved the annual eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C. The 2022 trip will be June 7-11. Its staff chaperone will be junior high government teacher Bret Lutz.
Board members commended Lutz for, once again, organizing the visit. Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer said the trip will be available only to this year’s eighth-grade students even though last year’s group was unable to go.
Also Monday, the board authorized the St. Joseph County Intermediate Schools District to post for a full-time technology coordinator for the district.
