The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is reporting the first identified case of the Omicron variant in Michigan.
Specifically, the case came from Kent County. Officials from the Branch Hillsdale St. Joseph Community Health Agency said anyone who has been in Kent County since Dec. 1 is encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 and take appropriate steps to monitor their health condition for 14 days.
The agency offers free curbside testing 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday in Three Rivers. Each testing site is open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The Kent County resident who tested positive had been vaccinated, but had not yet received a booster dose.
