Board names new community corrections director

St. Joseph County officials made an internal hire to fill the position of community corrections director.

Melissa Bliss, who has been working the past year in the county clerk’s office, was tapped to fill the job. It became available when Erin Goff took on the role of emergency services director.

County administrator Teresa Doehring announced the personnel move during the board of commissioners meeting Tuesday. Doehring said she is thrilled to have Bliss on board and in the position.

Bliss, a 44-year-old Flowerfield Township resident, will earn a salary of $54,000 a year. Her previous salary was about $45,000.
