In December 2021, Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy signed the final purchase documents for the Armintrout-Milbocker Nature Preserve in Allegan, making SWMLC the official owner of the property.
Ultimately, SWMLC was able to secure grant funding for the acquisition from several different sources, all of which combined with a generous bargain sale by the Armintrout and Milbocker Families, to make the purchase possible.
The Armintrout-Milbocker Nature Preserve is a 140-acre property just a few minutes from Downtown Allegan along the west bank of the Kalamazoo River. The heart of the piece of land is 80 upland acres of pine-oak forest, fringed with 60 acres of diverse wetlands, over one mile of walking trails, and three miles of frontage along the Kalamazoo River.
