A Three Rivers man, convicted of stealing catalytic converters in Hillsdale County in 2021, was sentenced to prison Monday in Hillsdale County Judicial Circuit Court.
Yutthaphoom Khamphaeng, 34, pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing stolen property valued at more than $1,000, following his arrest in December 2021 on a warrant charging him with the crime and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
Khamphaeng, who court officials said has a long-history of drug-related offenses, was one of three persons arrested for catalytic converter thefts, according to Hillsdale County Prosecutor Neal Brady. Khamphaeng’s two co-defendants were previously sentenced to prison terms.
Brady said the trio was caught trying to sell stolen catalytic converters to Welch Auto Parts & Recycling in Allen Township last year.
Khamphaeng, who has pending cases in several other Michigan counties, was sentenced to up to 60 months in prison.
