Students interested in studying cybersecurity have an opportunity to apply for $1,500 scholarships at Glen Oaks Community College, thanks to a partnership program involving Microsoft and American Association of Community Colleges.
Glen Oaks was one of 14 community colleges to receive “Cyber Skills for All: Community Colleges Lead the Way” initiative.
Scholarships will offset, and in some cases, cover the cost associated with the classes, said Tammy Russell, executive director of institutional planning, assessment and research at Glen Oaks.
The Cybersecurity certificate program can be completed in two semesters; while the associate degree program can be completed in two years, Russell said.
Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. Students interested in applying for grants may learn more about the process by calling the admissions office, at 294-4253.
Applications are due on or before Aug. 1.
