Glenn Burgener, 87

Glenn J Burgener, age 87, of Constantine, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born October 13, 1934 in Florence Township, a son of Lester and Vernie (Wittenberg) Burgener. Glenn graduated from Centreville High School in 1952. On June 7, 1957 he married Darlene Slack in Constantine.

Glen served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked many jobs over the years including sheep shearing, painting at the Centreville Fairgrounds, Brueck and Bolender Construction, St. Joseph County Sheriff Deputy, Wheel Camper in Centreville, had a sawmill business, and was also in the lime and marl business. Glenn was truly a Jack of all Trades. He loved fishing and hunting, his country, living life, and mostly his family, with whom he cherished spending time.

Surviving are his wife Darlene Burgener, children Lucy Grindel, Martin Burgener, Corky (Kirk) Myers, Ken (Suzanne) Burgener, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister Norma Fair, sister in law Jane Burgener, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn Kilpatrick and brother Paul Burgener.

Relatives and friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 5 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious services will be held Monday at 11 am with Reverend David Madewell, Chaplain at Borgess Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be at Calhoun Cemetery.
