Constantine Village Council members last week reviewed an application from Tranquility Fields Inc. of Ann Arbor to install a marijuana-consumption center at 230 N. Washington St.
Tranquility Fields also applied for a marijuana-provisioning license from the village to sell marijuana on the property.
Scott Dianda and Ed Santiagelo, representatives of TFI, spoke to the council on opening a consumption lounge for adult-use marijuana at a November council meeting, but no applications had been received until now.
Village manager Mark Honeysett said although a local ordinance currently says no new marijuana business applications can be taken until September, attorney Catherine Kauffman said that in her opinion, this did not include a moratorium on consumption lounges.
The council took no action on the TFI applications, and requested that Honeysett ask applicants to attend the Aug. 15 council meeting to give a presentation and answer questions.
