Karen Sue (Savage) Ankney, age 80, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
She was born May 7, 1942 in Muncie, Indiana a daughter to the late Robert and Florence (Scott) Hiner.
Karen was first married to Guy Savage. This marriage ended in divorce and she then married Lloyd “Bud” Ankney. Lloyd preceded her in death.
She enjoyed doing word search, puzzles, sunflowers, watching basketball, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. She got the most enjoyment out of her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Surviving are two children: Rick (Raeanne) Savage of Sturgis, and Kim (Alicia) Savage of Dowagiac; grandchildren: Cameron (Olivia Hyska) of Sturgis, Boe (Kalesha) Savage of Howe, IN, and Paige Savage of Sturgis; great-granddaughters: Paislee Savage and Ivy Savage; 2 brothers: Larry (Bonnie) Hiner of Carmel, IN and Tom (Anne) Hiner of Sheridan, IN; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and 2 sisters: Patricia Henry and Barbara Hart.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 noon to 3:00 P.M., on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
