Health department recommends COVID vaccination

COVID-19 infections are still reported daily, but not to the extent of early 2022 and before.

Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency medical director Karen Luparello said the virus now is similar to the flu or a common cold with most of the same symptoms.

Luparello, however, said that bit of news is not a reason for the public to let its guard down. In fact, she said she would still recommend vaccination.

She said infections, hospitalizations and deaths have declined significantly.

With over 13,000 cases in St.Joseph county it would be nice to see people wearing a mask. I am appalled at the Republican legislators for threatening our health departments to take away funding if they choose to do the right thing. What a sad state. People in my county are getting sick with covid. Our health department can’t put out warnings.
