Three arrested in Battle Creek drive-by shooting of toddler

Battle Creek police said Friday they have arrested three teens in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed a 2-year-old boy.

Kai Rowan Turner was shot once in the head around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday when someone fired multiple shots into a home and then fled the scene. The boy later died at a hospital.

The suspects all are in their mid to late teens, Detective Sgt. Chris Rabbitt said during a news conference. One was arrested late Thursday night in the Detroit area. The other two were arrested in Battle Creek on Wednesday and Thursday. Each was being held Friday.

Open murder and firearms charges for all three suspects will be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Rabbitt said.

Investigators believe the intended targets were in a different apartment in the same house, Rabbitt said.  (AP)
