Deb Jezek died on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the age of 67.
What can we say about the “dash” in Deb’s life? She was born in South Bend, the daughter of Frank and Delores (Dee) Jezek. The first 13 years of her life were spent in Lakeside, MI, enjoying swimming in Lake Michigan. In 1969 the family relocated to Three River, where Deb graduated with the class of 1973. She enjoyed an adventurous life as a teenager, always living on the edge. However, while in high school she joined the school paper and so her love of writing and newspapers began.
After graduation, she joined the Three Rivers Commercial-News ultimately becoming an account executive. Later she moved to Churubusco, IN where she had been offered a job at the newspaper there, then took a leap of faith and moved to Traverse City, where she ultimately was offered a position at the Traverse City Record Eagle where she worked until her early retirement. She then moved to Ontonagon, MI to be close to her parents.
Deb was very proficient on the piano starting lessons as a young girl from Miss Anderson and all her cats in Lakeside. She loved to play and played piano and organ for her churches for over 50 years.
Deb is survived and will be missed by her family: parents, Frank and Dee Jezek of Lexington, KY, sister Jamie (Don) Hull of Lexington, KY, daughter, Malissa (Dan) Milesi of Traverse City, grandson, Jonathon (Nichole) Powell, great grandchildren Tony and Lynee Powell all of Mesick, MI, nephew Jason Hull of Towanda, PA, and her many, many friends, especially those from AA who she had known during her 30 years of attending meetings with them.
Deb’s favorite saying was “no more husbands, no more kids, no more pets”…..Deb, you are now safe in the arms of God, rest in peace with Rusty again at your side. We love and will miss you so much…….
At her request there will be no service. Deb would however appreciate donations in her memory to OCAP (Ontonagon County Animal Protection) P.O. Box 315, Ontonagon, MI 49953.
