William Stevens, 86

William Stevens, age 86, of Decatur, passed away on September 25, 2022 in Temperance, MI.

He was born in a barn on the corner of Lawrence Rd & Marcellus Hwy, Michigan on August 9, 1936 and grew up in Wakelee, the son of John Daniel and Bernice Clementine (Roland) Stevens.

William served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 as a Quartermaster, he then served in the National Guard in Dowagiac.

William worked in AP Parts Factory and retired from there, then took a part time job at Bedford High School as a janitor.

William was an avid hunter and fisherman and a sports fanatic. His favorite team was Michigan and the Detroit Tigers.

William is survived by his sons; Craig (Dianna) Stevens of Point Place, OH, Hugh (Robin) Stevens of Temperance, MI, Mike Stevens of Point Place, OH; 8 grand children; and 9 great-grand children; sister Marlene “sissy” Riggs of Marcellus, special nephew and niece, Dan Riggs and Dawn Melville of Marcellus.

William was preceded in death by his loving parents; John and Bernice Stevens; wife Etheleen; second wife Nancy Stevens, sister; Geraldine Huff and brother; John “Jack” Stevens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Wakelee Methodist Church, Funeral services to follow at 11:00 with Pastor Andy Abrams officiating. Burial will follow at Little Fish Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Marcellus or Wakelee Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.materralstonfuneralhome.com
