Carol L. Whetstone, age 84, of Constantine, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at her home. She was born November 19, 1937 in Three Rivers, a daughter of Ralph and Lavonia (Hagerman) Larrance.
Carol graduated from Constantine High School in 1956. On November 23, 1957 she married Joe Whetstone at the Constantine United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2013. Carol, along with her husband Joe, owned and operated the Dam-Site Bait Shop in Constantine. She had also worked at Harriett’s Launderette in Constantine. Carol was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 223 in Constantine for more than 50 years. She loved painting, mushroom hunting up north, and casinos. She also enjoyed golfing in the Sauganash Thursday Night League, and was a big fan of Christmas.
Surviving Carol are her son Joe (Tina) Whetstone, Jr.; daughter Denise (Steve) Jennings; son Ron (Kris) Whetstone, all of Constantine; grandchildren Matthew Whetstone, Laura (Jason) Smith, Kelsey (Nick) Ramsey, Dustin (Olivia) Jennings, Eric (Theresa) Stears, Seth Stears; great grandchildren Alice Smith, Stella Jennings, Mark Stears, Noah Daleiden and Declan Daleiden. Also surviving are her brother Richard “Dick” Larrance; sister Sandy Coelho, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother-in-law Mario Coelho.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Jon Mieras officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Wednesday at 1:30 pm.
