Susie Wood, 81

Sylvia Suzanne Wood, age 81, of Three Rivers, died on September 19, 2022 at Beacon Health – Three Rivers. She suffered a myocardial Infarction unexpectedly. Susie passed holding her daughter’s hand.

Susie was born October 27, 1940 in Wapakoneta, OH, the daughter of Frederick M. Slusher and Constance A. (Courtney) Slusher.

Susie graduated from St. Joseph High School with the class of 1958 and earned her bachelor of arts at Ohio State University.

She enjoyed her work as a medical staff coordinator for Three Rivers Area Hospital. Prior to working in the medical field she worked at Weiner, Wade & Tucker, attorneys at law. Susie’s favorite job was working for General Mark Clark at the Citadel, Charleston, S.C. She was considered invaluable everywhere she was employed.

She is survived by sisters, Becky Metzger of Wapakoneta, OH. and Mary Courtney of Columbus, OH.; brother, John Slusher of Port Charlotte, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.

Susie was intelligent, independent, fearless, brave, outgoing, beautiful, and had a great sense of humor. She had compassion for those less fortunate and loved animals, working her entire lifetime as their advocate. She loved cleaning and kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with crochet hooks, playing the piano and was a member of a champion bowling team. Susie loved writing about current events and politics.

Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her daughter strong values that have served her well. Susie will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place. Susie’s life will be celebrated privately by her family.
