Betty Jean Miller, age 80, of Shipshewana, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side, at 11:31 am on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born on October 3, 1942 in Three Rivers to Verne E. and Miriam J. (Bontrager) Yoder. On May 10, 1980 she married Ben Wheeler, he died in 1984; then on May 1, 1999 in Goshen she married Amos J. Miller, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Miriam Jean (Joey) Hefflinger of Molalla, OR; three step-daughters, Sarah Ann Miller of Maple Grove, MN, Linda Fern Kindrex of Wynne, AR, Sue Ellen (Troy) White of Nappanee; two step-sons, Jerry Ray Miller of Shipshewana, Amos L. (Beth) Miller of Elkhart; a grandson, Milo James Hefflinger; eight step-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; six sisters, Sue Marie (Jr.) Troyer, Ruby Irene Miller, Irma Lou (Lee) Schwartz of Sturgis, Pauline (Mel) Hochstetler, Norma Jean (Perry) Miller, Wanda Kay (Wayne) Yoder; two brothers, Eugene Ray (Deb) Yoder and Joe Henry (Elsie) Yoder. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and a brother, Leroy V. Yoder.
Betty had worked at Lamb Knit in Colon, and then worked several years at Mastercraft in Shipshewana. She had also worked for 13 years as a homebound nurse and was a member of the Townline Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 4, at Townline Mennonite Church, 2165 S. 1000 W. Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 5, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dean Yoder. Family and friends may gather later Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm at Locust Grove Cemetery, Burr Oak, MI. for a graveside service. Memorials may be given to Townline Mennonite Church.
