County unemployment drops

September’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by one-tenth of a percent from August.

The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 4.2 percent in August to 4.1 percent in September.

Meanwhile, Cass County experienced a drop in its unemployment figures from August to September. Its August rate was 4.4 percent and lowered to 3.9 percent a month later.

Also, Branch County’s one-month unemployment rate fell in September from the previous month. It was 4 percent in August and dropped to 3.8 percent in September.

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 4.1 percent, unchanged from August.
